Quiet And Efficient: An Electric Car Engine
The interest in hybrid and electric cars continues to grow, especially since gasoline has gotten so expensive. Most people just canít afford to travel as much due to the added expense. An electric car engine is one that runs by using an electric motor rather than an engine that requires gasoline.
Most of the cars one the road with an electric car engine aren’t noticed. This is because they were once gas engine vehicles converted to an electric car engine. Cars that are using an electric car engine have an opening in the hood and the engine makes barely any noise. All gas powered vehicles have some engine noise, even those in excellent condition.
The Basics Of An Electric Car Engine
Electric car engines donít use pipes or hoses. Instead the components are actually wires. The process of converting a gas engine into an electric car engine requires you to pull out several components including the muffler, tailpipe, gas tank, and the gas engine. These items will be replaced with a battery, an electric motor, and water pump. You have the option to add power steering air conditioning components if you desire. You will replace the cars gas gauge with an indicator that reflects the amount of charge left in the battery.
The rest of your vehicle will remain the same. The batteries you install will last you about three years before having to be replaces. Overall, the cost of maintaining an electric car engine is considerably less than a gas engine even with the cost of converting the engine.
The process of converting a gas engine with an electric car engine isnít as complicated as it can sound. It will cost you a few thousand dollars, but it is a great investment. The savings will more than pay for itself in time.
